Be Organized Empty Be Organized

Post by bluebonnet Wed Aug 18, 2010 12:28 am

The number one thing I have to say about working from home is that it is a must to be organized. There are hundreds of ways to do this for free online. Even though you work from home build some kind of structure for your life that leaves time and a place for work. It is to easy to get sidetracked. If you do not have an online calendar get one set up and have a lose schedule set up. Organize your thoughts, organize your bills, find out how much you need to make and how many hours it will take. Organize your work.

Over the past ten years I have found what works for me. Here is a tip on getting organized. Find out what your learning style is and get organized to suit that.

I'm still trying to get myself together and organized for this work at home business, but it's getting there. Right now, the main way I stay organized is by just making myself a schedule/to do list the night before of what I need to do the next day. It helps to keep me on track and focused.

Being organized is probably the number 1 most important thing in this business, especially when you are first starting out.

I try! I have a list but I keep getting sidetracked by some emails. I think it is best to make reading your email the last one in the list.

That is a good point as well. As you get organized you may find that it isn't working how you hoped so you have to also find time to get re organized. If you find something out like that, emails getting you distracted, then moving them is a good idea. Even though it takes time I save the most time just by organizing and re organizing.

Being organized is one of my downfalls. This is something that I have continually work on every day. I know it is necessary, but I just have a really hard time doing it. I would love some more tips on this, if anyone has more suggestions.

I suppose the distinction you want to make is between organization and perfection. You will have to work a little bit at it each and every day. I think the best thing to do is set up a realistic time slot for getting organized. When you decide this remember spending a little time each day will save you a lot of time over the long haul.

This is probably part of my problem. I do try to be a perfectionist in everything. That in itself is very time consuming.

I keep trying. A notebook beside my pc where I list down the things I have to do everyday is handy. It keeps me on track of everything.

Jotting down notes for yourself in a notebook is a great way to stay organized. I do the exact same thing.

I am another person who keeps notes. I use Google calendar and the notepad on my computer. With how busy I am with kids, the house, the husband and life I could not expect myself to remember everything.

If it wasn't for paper and a pen, I would be lost. I have an Iphone now that I keep up with everything, which is great. I can carry everywhere with me. I keep my To Do stuff in it, grocery and other shopping lists, and pretty much everything else in between. I wouldn't know where to start every day without notes.

Has anyone ever thought of getting one of those scanning pens? I am not sure how they work but for some they might help with organization.
