New Newbie! Empty New Newbie!

Post by Okapi Tue Aug 17, 2010 8:59 am

Hey guys! I'm new, both to the forum, and the whole "working from home" thing, so this is a bit of a learning experience for me. Hopefully I'll get over "stupid newbie syndrome" pretty quickly. Very Happy

New Newbie! Empty Re: New Newbie!

I noticed that there's a little "points" counter under my post count. What are those for? I've been on a handful of forums before, but none of them had a point system.

Members can earn points ranging from 1-50 for various posts that they make. Starting a new topic earns more points, and then you also get points for posting replies. This was started, so at some point in the near future, a contest will be held for the person who has the most points built up in a certain amount of time. There is also a Reputation system where members earn various amounts to build their reputation up on the forum. If someone finds your post or replies useful, interesting, etc., they can click on the + sign on the right side of the post and it gives you more Reputation points and puts a bright green bar on that post. If they do not like the post or reply, then they can click on the - sign to decrease your Reputation. There is also a Thanks Button visible to the person who originally posted a topic. If they find a reply that they appreciate, they can click on the Thanks button that will add Reputation points to that member. The higher your reputation is, the more you will build up your trust with other forum members.
